Listen to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. give his speech called “How Long? Not Long.”
As part of the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, Jr. helped organize a bus protest. This started in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955. A Black woman named Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white person. This got her arrested. In response, the Black community of the area stopped riding the city’s buses for 381 days. The protest ended after the Supreme Court said segregation on public buses was not allowed.
