Sing along to the nation’s anthem with music and lyrics!

The tune of “The Star-Spangled Banner” comes from an old English song called “To Anacreon in Heaven.” This song was written by John Stafford Smith in about 1775. It was a song from a British gentleman’s music club called the Anacreontic Society. The tune had been used in other American songs before “The Star-Spangled Banner.” One of these other songs was called “Adams and Liberty.”
