Over 2,000 years ago, traders and travelers began using the Silk Road. It was a 4,000-mile stretch of trade routes that connected China to Europe. The road went through what is now Pakistan, India, and the Middle East. Goods and people could go across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe. The Silk Road brought items to new places and allowed different cultures to mix.
