TITLE

See all kinds of artic animals in the coldest parts of the winter. Learn how they hunt and survive.

Permafrost is ground that stays frozen for at least two years. Tundra biomes have a lot of permafrost. Some of it has been frozen for hundreds of thousands of years! Soil and rocks are frozen and held together by ice. Permafrost keeps large plants from growing because their roots cannot break through the frozen ground.
