The city of Calicut, India makes a lot of cotton fabric. One of the main fabrics is called Calico cotton. It’s named after Calicut. The cloth is plainly woven and appears beige with tiny specks of cotton seeds. It’s often printed with colorful patterns. The calico cat is named after the patterned cotton fabric.
