The PBS show Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat was popular in the early 2000s. The show was based on a book by Amy Tan of the same name. The show and book feature a family of siamese cats.

Siamese cats are one known to have crooked tails. There is a legend that explains why the tail turned crooked. A princess was bathing in a river. She worried her rings would be swept away in the water. The princess placed the rings on her pet cat for safe keeping. The cat kept the rings safe by bending its tail. The tail stayed bent forever.
