The inspiration for the kraken gets caught on tape in US waters! Scientists are thrilled.

Carl Linnaeus, who wrote Systema Naturae, included kraken in his list of official plants and animals. Linnaeus was a forward-thinking taxonomist. Taxonomists are biologists who sort information on plants and animals. Linnaeus was ahead of his time in understanding that humans are related to primates like monkeys and apes. He was also the first to sort whales into the mammal’s category instead of fish. He knew whales breathed with lungs.
