One of Athena’s symbols is the owl. They are connected because owls and Athena share certain skills. Athena is known for her wisdom, skill at war, and fairness. Owls are very smart birds. They are also good hunters. Owls fly silently and have great night-vision. The little owl lives throughout Greece. Its scientific name is Athene noctua, which means “owl of Athena.”
