TITLE

Hermes is often pictured wearing winged sandals. Another name for them is pteroeis pedila. The shoes were created by the god Hephaestus and the one-eyed monsters called Cyclopes. They were said to be made of gold and could carry him as quick as a bird. Hermes lends the hero Perseus his sandals to help the boy defeat the monster Medusa.
