Zeus’s mother Rhea hid when she gave birth to him. Gaia, who is like Mother Earth to the ancient Greeks, took Zeus and used her powers to hide him. Drinking the milk of Amalthea and eating nymph honey, Zeus grew quickly. There are two caves on the island of Crete that people have called the real birthplace of Zeus.
