Learn more about Cleopatra’s story. She was a fascinating and powerful woman who changed history and protected Egypt.

Besides the disappearance of the young princes amid the Wars of the Roses, there have been many other mysteries surrounding European royalty. One such story took place high in the Bavarian Alps. There, in 1868, began the building of a castle fit for a fairy tale. The shy King Ludwig II wanted a private place to live in peace. He named the castle Neuschwanstein. But he would never see his sanctuary complete. Ludwig died under very mysterious circumstances. On the evening of June 13, 1886, the king and his doctor walked along the shores of Lake Starnberg. Beforehand, Ludwig told his aids Es darf kein Pleger mitgehen, German for “No attendant may come with us.” Ludwig and his doctor never returned. A search party found their bodies later that night in the lake. The only clue to the mysterious death was that the king’s watch had stopped at 6:54 pm. To this day, no one knows what happened to the men.
