One cocoa tree can grow 20 pods at a time. The pods can be different colors. They may be green, red, or purple. Ripe pods are usually yellow or brown.

The cocoa pod is full of cocoa beans. The beans are shaped like almonds. They are brown. A white pulp surrounds them. The pulp is soft and juicy. It tastes sweet.
