TITLE

Getting to Rainbow Mountain is a challenge. First, people travel to Cusco, Peru. Then they drive 3.5 hours to the start of the trail. The hike takes approximately three hours. Hiking in the mountains can be difficult. Some people ride horses. The weather can change quickly. Hikers need to be prepared.

Rainbow Mountain is in a subduction zone. This is an area where tectonic plates push together. One plate is forced to move underneath the other plate. As the plate moves down, land above the other plate is pushed up. Mountains and volcanoes can form. The Andes mountain range was formed in this way.
