The desert is very hot and dry. But camels still survive. Camels have adapted to life in the desert. Camels’ humps are an adaptation to help them survive.

People have used camels to carry goods through the desert for a long time. Camels can carry up to 600 pounds. Camels made it possible for people to move across the desert. They have been given the nickname “ships of the desert.”
