Learn more about the Moon’s gravity in this video!
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth, moon, and Sun line up so the moon passes into Earth’s shadow. The Earth is positioned perfectly between the Sun and the moon. Earth’s shadow, or umbra, covers the moon. There can be partial and total lunar eclipses. An eclipse happens during a full moon. They occur four to seven times a year.
