There are four species of skunk. The striped skunk, the hooded skunk, the hog-nosed skunk, and spotted skunk. Striped skunks have two white stripes down their back. Hooded skunks have longer hair and their backs are a mixture of white and black making them appear gray. Hog-nosed skunks are larger with a single solid stripe from head to tail. Spotted skunks are the smallest. Their spots are actually stripes that are dashed with black hair.
