The Liberty Bell has a Bible verse on it that says, “Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof.” The verse describes the “Jubilee.” This is the time every 50 years that the Israelites were supposed to return property and set enslaved people free. The Liberty Bell traveled around the United States starting in the late 1800s. That way, people far from Pennsylvania could see this symbol of the country.
