Sometimes police officers need to direct traffic. They tell the cars when to stop. The point them in the direction they should go.
Sometimes when police are working, they use yellow tape to block off an area. That means people cannot go in that area. Police will close streets or other areas if they need to investigate something there. For example, part of a street may be blocked off with yellow tape if a car crash happened there.
